“Sarah has many gifts as a yoga teacher. One is the ability to make yoga both fun and safe. Her sense of humor is infectious, and her stories and insights into the foibles of the human species often make me smile and stop taking myself so seriously. Beginners and experienced yogis are welcome in her classes, and she helps everyone practice at the level most appropriate for them.Another of her gifts is the ability to observe and sense what a given student needs in that day’s practice.

Another of her gifts is the ability to observe and sense what a given student needs in that day’s practice.

Some days I come to her class feeling drained and tired, and that’s when she urges me to take care of myself by not trying to take that day’s practice to the highest level. When I’m discouraged because I can’t get into or maintain a pose, she gently helps me find a way to work with that. Sarah’s knowledge of poses, props, and the human body are a valuable asset. She helps struggling students modify difficult poses when necessary, and she works very effectively with those who are pregnant, injured, or in rehabilitation. Sarah reminds us that yoga is more than just asana. Her students learn to take the practice off the mat and out into the world by using the breath, mindfulness, and the discipline to sit with discomfort to work with whatever life brings.”

“I am honored to have such an experienced and dedicated instructor as Sarah Pomaro. She not only offers care and gentleness through teaching, but beyond as well. Sarah has helped me through difficult times, some she knows and others not, and I am fortunate to have had her guidance in strengthening on and off the mat.”

“I took my first Forrest Yoga class with Miss Sarah about 10 years ago. That experience truly has changed my life. I came to the mat looking for exercise, space for myself, and quiet. I received all of those things and so much more. My practice has developed over these years and has brought me to a place of peace and acceptance and a truly grateful heart. Sarah taps into an intuitive healing ability, to touch on our most vulnerable areas and guide us to meet the fear, accept it, and eventually choose to move beyond it. All that is sacred within me salutes all that is sacred with you! Namaste!”

“I started practicing with Sarah when I was very new to Yoga, in 2006. I really like her attitude about teaching that is she’s very thorough, and caring, but she doesn’t take herself too seriously.

“I thought I was in pretty good shape when I started practicing Forrest yoga, but I came to find out I wasn’t as good as I could be. But, by consistently taking Sarah’s classes twice a week for a long time, and practicing the Forrest core work at home, I really am in great shape, probably the best of my life.

I have had a lot of firsts when practicing with Sarah, handstand, arm balances, etc. and I owe it all to her relentless pursuit of a strong core, it really is essential.

“I practice with a lot of different teachers on a regular basis, but I always look to the weekly Forrest class with Sarah, it seems to complete my week.”

“It is with feelings of joy and gratitude that I choose to share my experience—now going on two years—with Sarah Pomaro, Master Yoga Teacher in the Practice of Forrest Yoga. It is paramount for me to say that my yoga practice with Sarah Pomaro has been nothing short of life altering.

“Sarah is powerful gem of a teacher, who possesses an indomitable belief in the life force itself. Through her teaching, she gives to her students—She gives her consummate expertise; her passionate dedication; her strong and sensitive patience; her intense clarity of focus, and I must mention her wonderful down-to-earth humor. Indeed, Sarah Pomaro gives to awaken and/or to reawaken belief in ourselves.

Sarah’s belief in each and every one of us activates a BELIEF in ourselves… we begin to believe in ourselves as we breathe in, as we breath out, we make space for life.

“What has been so remarkable for me is that Sarah saw potential inside of me—a life potential that I sadly never believed would be able to open to growth. After all, life does take its toll on all us through the years. Yet little by little, feeling safe under her caring and watchful eye, I began to feel that life within me, alive, and still yearning to grow. And I must emphasize that to grow is not easy; it is a challenging, emotional, spiritual, and visceral process. And to venture into this journey through the practice of yoga, a stellar experienced teacher, like Sarah Pomaro, is a must. Says Sarah as she teaches and as we move into each asana: ‘Make Space’ — ‘Feel the Space You are Creating’ — ‘Feel into your Body’ — ‘Make Room for Life to Enter.’

“And so in her classes, we sweat, we go deep, we learn; and Sarah’s belief in each and every one of us activates a BELIEF in ourselves. Yes, in her classes, large or small, with students of all ages (I am a retired English teacher and am in the senior category), we begin to believe in ourselves, we breathe in, as we breath out — making space for life.

“And then a kind of wondrous thing happens: In the hot and steamy room, with all of us breathing into that belief in ourselves, an exhilarating, healing, synergistic energy fills the studio. And I, who never in my wildest dreams believed I could grow into more of who I am, feel newly released joy course through my body.

“Sarah, I am opening to let life in! Sarah, my life force, whether on the mat or off the mat, does have the potential to continue to grow and to become. Thank you, Sarah, for your healing guidance, steadfast patience, and for your BELIEF in me. I am vulnerable, I am healing, I am growing, and I am joyful; I am choosing Life. Namaste.

“I’ve taken Sarah’s classes every week for several years and can say wholeheartedly that each session offers a fresh perspective on and enhancement of my yoga practice. Sarah’s deep professionalism, skill as a teacher and yogi, and talent for challenging students of every level make her classes a continually rewarding experience, both for the body and the spirit.”

“’Reach around and grab your ass!’This particular comment is something I have heard more than once in the 4 years I have been practicing Forrest yoga with Sarah. These “off the cuff” comments give you a glimpse of Sarah’s edgy personality, but they also serve a necessary purpose; they make her student’s laugh or smile, reminding us that when life gets a little hard, it is still okay to have a some fun. To me, comments like this encompass a few of Sarah’s greatest strengths. One, she has a great sense of humor and two, she has an incredibility ability to relate the struggles and joy’s you experience on your mat to your life off the mat.

Reach around and grab your ass!… my personal yoga practice has taught me to listen to my body, do what it needs and be okay with whatever that is.

“With the guidance of Sarah, my personal yoga practice has taught me to listen to my body, do what it needs and be okay with whatever that is. Do I really need to get my hands to the ground or does my body need the support of a block tonight? Do I really need an upward facing dog or do I need a low cobra? Growing up as a trained, competitive dancer, this lesson was not easy to learn. My childhood was spent learning to push past the limits of my body and to be the best. My personal yoga practice has taught me connect back to what my mind, body and spirit needs, to be gentle with myself and treat myself with the same love and compassion I show to others.

“Each time I finish a practice with Sarah, I feel inspired and rejuvenated. I feel connected and prepared to walk confidently through the world with whatever joys or pain it may bring to me. BKS Iyengar once spoke of yoga as the practice to, “Cure what need not be endured and endure what can not be cured.” Yoga sharpens your ability to decipher between the two, let go, shift perspective and smile because you are alive to know the difference! Thank you Sarah, for all that you do. Namaste!”

“I came to Sarah’s class a little over 2 years ago at the recommendation of another teacher, and for that I am beyond grateful. Sarah’s class, as well as Forrest Yoga in general,is a bit different than “normal” Yoga classes. The long holds of challenging poses, along with the heated room, can be quite difficult, mentally and physically. Sarah’s fantastic sense of humor, as well as her love and knowledge of all aspects of yoga, make it fun. There’s nothing like holding a long, challenging pose, and having your mind on the brink of giving up, only to have Sarah crack a joke, or make a funny comment, to ease the situation. Sarah makes challenging yoga a lot of fun. and I am so grateful to have her as my teacher and friend”
